Jonathan Lucas MD awarded Surrey & Hampshire's Entrepreneur of the Year

Jonathan Lucas MD of Elstead Lighting was awarded Surrey & Hampshire's Entrepreneur of the year at the 2017 Biz Awards.

Elstead Lighting is a family run, decorative lighting business which was established in 1969. During the last major recession, business owner and entrepreneur Jonathan Lucas decided to swim against the tide by creating a completely fresh new strategy and as a result has transformed the business.

Over the last 5 years Elstead has developed a fantastic catalogue of 2,500 unique designs that are manufactured under license from Elstead’s in-house design team as well as four major American Lighting companies; Feiss, Hinkley, Quoizel and Kichler. This has resulted in annual revenue increasing more than 300% since the introduction of this new business model.

Elstead is also proud to retain its heritage as a UK manufacturer employing 81 local staff in Alton, Hampshire. This recent transformation which has been delivered in the last 5 years is driven by Jonathan Lucas and supported by his wife Deborah and all the Elstead staff. The next five years look incredibly bright for Elstead as Jonathan is currently nurturing lots of other opportunities in new geographical markets as well as developing more specialist routes to market in the UK.

The Gala Lunch was hosted by Eagle Radio at Mercedes-Benz World on 4th May where many local businesses were recognised for their achievements in the last year. The event included entertainment from local Farnham singer - Rachel Rose who featured in this years "The Voice" and we were also inspired by keynote speaker Paul Sinton-Hewitt CBE, founder of ParkRun.  Congratulations to all the other category finalists and winners at this great local event.
