Elstead Lighting Acquires CrimwayChris
Elstead Lighting recently completed the purchase of the small specialist/custom lampshade manufacturer and lighting supplier, Crimway. They are based in Whittlesbury (in earshot of the Silverstone motor circuit) and have a good reputation for the quality and diversity of the hand-made shades they supply to the hospitality and interior design sector, as well as a range of table lamps and fittings.
Jonathan Lucas – MD of Elstead commented “At this early stage, the business will continue in its own right making and shipping product from its base in Northamptonshire. There will be then several months of transition as we work through how best to implement and integrate the ranges into the Elstead main operation. It will certainly be a very carefully managed transition, as Crimway is a small business and could not manage the full breadth of Elstead’s client base being introduced and offer their products and services at this stage”.
An additional shade making facility is planned to be set up in Alton this autumn in order that Elstead can upscale the production quantity to supply the full Elstead customer base later this year. They aim to eventually produce more UK made shades reducing their dependence on externally made shades. Eventually they will offer interior designers a bespoke shade making service which will add further strength in depth to Elstead and their overall business.
